Conference Production / Research Analyst

‘You have responsibility for your own event from the start!’
- Do you like analysing issues and getting to grips with new concepts and ideas?

- Do you enjoy reading the newspapers and understanding what’s going on in the business world?
Conference Producers join one of three specialist sector teams (Utilities, Transport & Media or Financial Services) and are responsible for their own conferences from day one. Through both desk research (reading relevant journals and newspapers) as well as telephone research with industry specialists, they analyse key industry trends and acquire sector expertise to write a commercial, well-structured and topical conference programme. They then invite senior-level speakers to address the topics that they have identified as important. Conference Producers are also responsible for working with and briefing internal teams and clients. Being able to work both independently and as part of a team is essential.
This role offers the opportunity to develop your research, analysis and communication skills, as well as giving you an in-depth understanding of the industry sectors you are working in and the issues that are affecting markets and individual companies. If you have outstanding analytical skills, a genuine interest in business issues and are able to communicate well with a wide range of people, then we would like to hear from you.
You must have an excellent academic record with a 2:1 or above from a top tier university and AAB or equivalent at A-level.

Sponsorship

‘There’s no corporate ‘stuffiness’’

The Sponsorship team is responsible for selling sponsorship packages at Marketforce’s strategic business to business conferences. The range of organisations that sponsor Marketforce events can be varied but we principally work with blue-chip companies including accountancy firms, consultancies, lawyers and technology companies to develop a sponsorship package which allows our client to promote its brand and services to the senior-level delegates and speakers that attend our conferences.
Sponsorship Executives are required to prospect for new business through researching their target market thoroughly. They promote the event to potential sponsors by producing sponsorship marketing collateral which is then mailed to their prospects and then following this up with a telephone and email campaign. Arranging meetings and lunches with prospects are ideal ways of getting sponsor buy-in.
A large part of the role involves managing relationships with existing sponsors and generating repeat sponsorship deals. There is also the opportunity to entertain clients at corporate hospitality events. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills are key but it is also critical to manage client expectations effectively.

Sales

Sales Executives work in the Sales and Marketing team within the conference division at Marketforce. With an excellent team culture the right person would have the opportunity to develop and progress fast. Sales Executives work alongside the Marketing department to procure delegates for cross- industry events. On a day-to-day basis the role entails selling into potential and existing clients and updating them with conference programmes via telephone, email, fax and post; handling of conference enquiries; working from a database (managing lists, contacts and key accounts); monitoring interest and feedback on conference programmes; identifying new business opportunities; maintaining and developing relationships with existing and potential delegates.
At events, the sales team take an active role in delivering outstanding customer service and are required to work within a team to ensure the smooth and professional delivery of the event and to maintain the professional image of Marketforce. Events are also a great opportunity to generate leads for future conferences and to strengthen delegate and sponsor relationships face to face.

Marketing

The Marketing team is responsible for producing cost effective, highly targeted direct marketing plans for Marketforce’s portfolio of international conferences. Marketing Executives execute these plans, allocate spend and resources to generate the best returns and liaise with clients and internal departments on planning, progress and the results of marketing activity.
Key elements of the Marketing Executive’s day-to-day role include analysing and segmenting the database, co-ordinating print production, managing suppliers and negotiating advertising deals. The ability to write good copy and proof read accurately is important and Marketing Executives are also expected to manage costs and track ROI. If they are working on a European conference, Marketing Executives have the opportunity to attend international events and language skills are an advantage but not compulsory.

Event Management

The Events team is responsible for the logistics of all Marketforce events. The job is very diverse and requires outstanding organisational and time management skills.
The Event Co-ordinator must work to deliver a well executed event that speakers, sponsors and delegates get a lot out of. A major focus for the team is customer service but Event Co-ordinators must also manage event costs to maximize profitability. The Event Co-ordinator is responsible for the onsite delivery of the event, including all onsite logistics and liaison with all conference speakers, sponsors and delegates, as well as the management of the onsite team. The ability to work effectively in a team is essential.
An Event Co-ordinator will typically organize 8 – 12 conferences (from 90 – 250 attendees) per year with anything from 90 to 250 attendees. As Marketforce produces events in the UK and Europe, it’s highly likely that some overseas travel may be required. There will also be the opportunity to work with external clients and Event Co-ordinators must take ownership of two special interest groups which meet four times a year including planning and delivering the group’s annual dinner once a year.

Database Research

The Database Research is a truly international team and all together we speak 10 different languages. We work within the Conference Division as part of the Marketing Department and are responsible for updating Marketforce’s CRM database for direct mailing campaigns, ensuring all data collected is fully up-to-date and phone verified with the highest levels of accuracy. As an international team we also provide language expertise and assist other departments within the company when needed.
As a researcher you will be required to research, collect and update data from companies and contact details from all over the world via phone and internet; research and suggest new sources of information and new data; make sure that all the data is verified through the telephone; judge data accuracy; share information with other departments about potential speakers, delegates and sponsors and attend regular meetings providing feedback reports to Marketing and the Conference Producers.

Communications & PR
