Conference overview:

This conference has finished - click here to view details on our 2nd The Future of High-Speed Rail conference taking place in October 2010.

Marketforce and the ASI’s 15th Annual The Future of European Rail once again saw senior executives gather in Madrid to examine the key questions facing one of Europe’s most important transport modes. The challenges of competition, EU policy, regulation, infrastructure and sustainability must all be met if the rail sector is to compete effectively with alternative transport modes.

Marketforce and the ASI's Inaugural The Future of High-Speed Rail conference bought together leading industry executives to debate how the rail industry can take full advantage of the opportunities that high-speed brings. Renfe, SNCB, SNCF, High Speed Two and NTV amongst others, discussed their high-speed strategies in detail, examining the challenges posed in communications, project management, financing, route development and in creating a truly pan-European network.

Many of these challenges are long-term and the conference will return in 2011 to evaluate the progress made and the new challenges and opportunities for the European rail industry.
