Conference overview:
With the smart metering cost benefit analyses due in September 2012, this conference will examine the next steps for member states that have decided or will decide to mandate smart meters. Senior figures will gather at the European Smart Metering Forum to discuss both positive and negative cost benefit analysis outcomes and also explore implementation programmes from across Europe. Industry leaders will also look at the system as a whole; they will ask how best to derive value from smart meters and how the benefits should be shared amongst stakeholders.
Key topics to be addressed include:
- Building on a successful smart meter roll out: what are the next steps to support the transition to a smarter energy system?
- What factors must be considered when making the decision to mandate smart meters?
- What are the challenges involved with realising the target of 80% of Smart Meters installed by 2020?
- From IHDs to smart phones: how can consumers be engaged in a ‘smart’ manner?
- Future proof, interoperable and scalable: what are the challenges involved with creating a smart system?
