Conference overview:
Marketforce and the IEA’s third annual The Future of Cards & Payments conference brought together a broad spectrum of card issuers, payments service providers and the industries that support them.
The event kicked off with three of the industry’s finest tackling head-on the challenges presented by the post-recession market, including regulation, credit caution and business development. This was followed by a more detailed overview of the economic and consumer state we’re in. In the afternoon, experts from across the industry came together to discuss strategies for tackling the ever-present, ever-evolving problem of fraud, whilst the final session of the day imagined a paperless future defined by cards that are personalised, cleverly marketed and front of wallet.
On day two, delegates had the opportunity to engage with regulators and a card scheme on the eternal issue of interchange fees. An enlightening discussion on the vital and too often maligned area of operational efficiency was then followed by a foray through the full gamut of cards and payments innovation, including new approaches to prepaid, contactless, alternative payments and mobile.
Thank you to all who attended and we look forward to welcoming you back next year.
