Biography
Paul has been Chief Financial Officer of Arch Europe since October 2005. Paul qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in 1989. His insurance career began in 1990 and since then he has worked at a number of insurance companies including Hiscox, Odyssey Re and Zurich Insurance Company. From 2000, until joining Arch Europe, he served as CFO of Zurich Corporate Solutions, based mainly in Zurich. Paul serves on the Finance and Taxation Committee of the International Underwriting Association of London (IUA), the representative organisation for international and wholesale insurance and reinsurance companies. He is a director of the Boards of Arch Insurance Company (Europe) Ltd. and Arch Underwriting at Lloyd’s Ltd and is a Trustee of Lloyd’s Syndicate 2012.

Mark Chaplin
Group Enterprise Risk Director, Aviva
Biography
Mark is the Group Enterprise Risk Director at Aviva. His responsibilities include the design of the groupwide risk management framework and governance arrangements, the operation of group-level risk reporting, the risk function's review of strategy, business plans and the internal capital model and the design of the risk management framework. Prior to joining Aviva, Mark spent 16 years at Watson Wyatt and Towers Watson where he led the firm's global risk and value services for life insurers. Mark is also chairman of the Groupe Consultatif's Solvency II Internal Models Working Group.
Keith Jackson
Group Chief Risk Officer, Bupa
Biography
Keith is Group Chief Risk Officer at Bupa where he is responsible for the Group’s risk, actuarial, compliance and financial crime functions. He also plays a leading role in managing the implementation of Solvency 2 within Bupa.
Keith has a long track record in corporate governance having worked for a number of multi-national businesses across a variety of sectors, including financial services and utilities.
Renzo Avesani
Chief Risk Officer, Unipol Gruppo
Biography
Dr. Renzo G. Avesani is currently the Chief Risk Officer of “Gruppo Unipol”, a conglomerate that incorporates the third largest Italian insurance company. He is responsible for market, credit, insurance, liquidity risks, capital allocation and ALM. Since Unipol Gruppo is a financial conglomerate he integrates the responsibilities for the insurance (Unipol Aaaicurazioni) and the banking business (“Unipol Banca”).
He is part of several board of directors in Italian and foreign companies.
Previously, Dr. Renzo G. Avesani was a senior economist in the Financial Supervision and Regulation Division at the Monetary and Financial Systems Department of the International Monitory Fund (IMF). At the IMF he worked on international financial surveillance issues, developing market based indicators of financial stability, implementing Stress Test exercises (FSAP) for advanced and emerging economies, and was involved in the design of the IMF Risk Management approach.
Former Head of Risk Management at ”Banca Intesa” in Italy, he set up the Risk Management Department and developed the organization and technology framework for the Risk Management function.
After completing the PhD in International Finance at New York University, he taught Economics and Finance in the Italian University.
John Scott
Chief Risk Officer, Zurich Global Corporate
Biography
John Scott is Chief Risk Officer for Zurich Global Corporate. He joined Zurich in 2001 becoming Head of Risk Insight in 2007 and took on his current role in 2009. John leads the global, regional and local implementation of the Group’s enterprise risk management strategy across Global Corporate.
A graduate of Oxford University, with a PhD in geology, John's early career was in the upstream oil & gas industry, where he gained wide-ranging international experience with BP. In 1995 he gained his MBA at Cranfield and joined BOC, as a key member of the Group Strategy & Planning team, and then later became General Manager of BOC’s Edwards business division.
John is a member of the Institute of Directors in the UK and currently chairs the CCSA (Carbon Capture and Storage Association) group on risk.
