Mark Somers founded the Somers Partnership in 2005, a leading retained executive search boutique which exists to help its clients to innovate, compete and grow by overcoming the talent challenge within the wealth and asset management and family office sectors. Mark and his team exclusively focus on serving retained clients and specialise in identifying, selecting and attracting talented professionals into a wide variety of their client organisations ranging from single and multi-family offices, independent private banks, PWM divisions, private client investment management companies, alternative investment firms, and consultancies.
Over the last 48 months they have helped their clients to grow and overcome the talent challenge and they have placed, 46 candidates, despite the challenging market conditions.
Mark recently graduated from the Goldman Sachs high growth potential business course delivered by UCL (GS10ksb), and has further developed the firm’s candidate selection and assessment processes to set a new industry standard (the process includes psychometric profiling, FCA standard vetting and post placement performance coaching), enhanced the array of services offered to clients by including HR and interview techniques.
He won a military University Scholarship (Cadetship) to Oxford Brookes University and graduated in 1990 before attending the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. He was commissioned into the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, and left in 1998 to pursue a career in executive search. With 15 years of experience in the executive search industry he has always specialised in the wealth and asset management sectors.
Mark was a founding Advisory Board member of the Global Partnership Family Offices, and was the author of an annual industry wide report entitled ‘Talent Management – Attracting and Retaining the best CRMs in Wealth Management’.
To fill his spare time he was the first Director of Fundraising of the charity ‘Caring for Courage’ and was invested with the Duke of Kent’s Medal by the Duke of Kent at St James’s Palace and is a Trustee of the ‘Waterloo Show Fund’. He serves on the organising Committees of two of the wealth management industry’s annual fundraising events - the Gulls’ Egg Lunch and Grape & Grouse Lunch supporting Macmillan Cancer Support.
