Hub 2022 – A Glance into the Future of Parcel Logistics

In a growing parcel market, there is no universal approach for parcel operators to strive for excellence and to gain the optimum benefit from this growth. Numerous high-level strategic discussions with parcel operators worldwide have revealed specific challenges which can be solved if appropriate strategies are adopted, aiming at quality, efficiency and sustainability. Since those strategies may involve long-term investments, this presentation highlights the importance of not preventing the company’s future ability for agility and adaptability.

Questions

Session Three: E-commerce: moving towards a recipient-oriented model

Postal organisations have traditionally operated on a ‘push’ model in which the post has the power to say when and where items are delivered. The rise of e-commerce challenges this model, calling for a new ‘pull’ model in which the receiver has the power to choose the delivery time, place, and method. Posts must be ready to be flexible and respond to new consumer trends.

14:40

Case study: Reinventing online retail delivery: Follow My Parcel

  •  A new model for track and trace delivery: 15 minute delivery slots
  • Smartphones and the delivery process: greater control and flexibility for customers

  • Which is the more effective last mile delivery model: track and trace, home delivery, parcel shops, or automated parcel boxes?
